1. What Paydirt is
Paydirt is an independent service operated by its owner under the trading name Paydirt.
Paydirt republishes trades disclosed by members of Congress and by corporate insiders, drawn from the public record: congressional filings from the House Clerk and the Senate eFD system, and insider filings from SEC EDGAR, including historical SEC data. Filings appear as filed. The only computed figures are the ones described in sections 3 to 5, and every computed figure is labeled derived. Each trade shows both its execution date and its filing date, so the gap between the trade and its disclosure is always visible.
2. Not advice, not an account
Paydirt is arithmetic on curated filings: nothing here is placed for you and nothing is a recommendation. Paydirt is not a broker, not an adviser, and not an account of any kind, and no advisory relationship arises from reading it. Returns shown on these pages are computed from disclosed trades after each filing was public and describe an index of those trades, not a tradeable account. Past returns are a record of filings already made, not a forecast. Any decision made from these pages is your own.
3. How the performance figures are computed
The performance pages chart the growth of a notional $10,000. The figures behind them are computed as follows.
- Only priced filings enter: a return exists only where the filing and the market prices around it are both on record.
- A position enters at its disclosed entry session and spans 21 trading sessions: it enters at that session's opening price and exits at the closing price 20 sessions later.
- Each curve is an equal-weight index of its scope: a session's return is the arithmetic mean of the returns of that session's active positions.
- Sessions with no active position return 0% and are counted as cash. Every curve carries a position count and the share of its window spent in cash.
- There is deliberately no modeling of capacity, allocation, or missed fills: the series is an index of the cohort's disclosed trades, not a tradeable account, and every rendering is labeled derived.
- Benchmarks are normalized to the same $10,000 and drawn on the same session axis, the trading sessions of the S&P 500 ETF (SPY).
- A per-person curve exists only once that person has at least five priced purchase groups in the trailing 24 months. Shorter views, including year to date, are renormalized suffixes of one 24-month series.
- Max drawdown, annualized return, and Sharpe ratios are not displayed.
- New per-person curves appear at the next manual build, so a curve can lag the five-group threshold.
4. The watchlist composite
Signed-in readers who watch people see a composite curve: the arithmetic mean of the watched people's registered curves, each rebased to the same starting value at the window's first session. Watched people without a registered curve covering the window start are excluded and named on screen. The composite is computed for you at request time; it is never stored and never ranked, and watched tickers never enter it.
5. Share-price charts
Ticker pages may show a share-price chart: daily closing prices adjusted for splits and dividends. The series is display only and feeds no metric or ranking. Twenty-four months are retained and a twelve-month slice is shown, and the chart states "Adjusted for splits and dividends." wherever it renders.
6. Data sources and accuracy
The filings come from the House Clerk, the Senate eFD system, and SEC EDGAR. Filers amend, file late, and make mistakes, and those flow through as filed. Prices come from an unofficial market-data vendor and may be revised or temporarily unavailable. Paydirt gives no warranty of completeness, accuracy, or availability: a filing appears only after it reaches the public record, and that delay is shown, not hidden.
7. Accounts
Signing in is by emailed link: each link works once and expires in 15 minutes, and no passwords exist. A session lasts 90 days; signing out ends it at once. Link sending is rate-limited. You are responsible for access to your own inbox.
8. Free and Pro
Free costs nothing and shows every filing as soon as it reaches Paydirt; nothing on the site is delayed. Free includes a watchlist of three names, people and tickers in any mix.
Pro has not launched yet; everything in this section applies from the day it opens. Pro is $9 per month or $90 per year, and you can cancel any time; there is no trial, because Free is the trial. Payments are processed by Stripe: card details go to Stripe and never reach Paydirt's servers. Pro includes alert emails: one email per filing by a name on your watchlist, and you can turn them off in Settings. Moving from Pro to Free deletes nothing: watchlist entries beyond the Free cap lock in place instead of being removed. The current feature matrix is on the Plan page.
9. Acceptable use
Paydirt is for personal, informational use. Do not scrape, bulk download or automatically harvest these pages; the underlying government filings are public at their sources. Rate limits protect the service, and traffic or accounts that abuse it may be limited or closed.
10. No warranty, limited liability
The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Paydirt reports filings and computes arithmetic on them; it does not act for anyone, and it is not liable for decisions made from these figures. To the extent permitted by law, total liability is capped at the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim, which for Free is nothing. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms can change, and the Last updated line above moves when they do. Material changes affecting paying subscribers are announced by email before they apply. Continued use after a change is acceptance of it.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
